South Africa Hunt

An Authentic, Accessible African Tradition

This unique opportunity to hunt the legendary African bushveld is a rare find in the industry, specifically designed to bring an authentic safari within reach of the everyday sportsman. If you’ve ever spent crisp autumn mornings swapping stories at a local deer hunting camp, you will feel right at home here. We’ve stripped away the overpriced, pretentious fluff to deliver a gritty, honest, and incredibly rewarding fair-chase adventure. This experience perfectly pairs the warm camaraderie of a traditional hunting camp with the unforgettable thrill of pursuing iconic African game on pristine, farmer-owned concessions.

South Africa offers a unique experience in Africa – a first world standard of living on a continent filled with third world countries. Why is this distinction important when wanting to hunt plains game in Africa? Reduction in costs in some places.

We’ve been hunting in South Africa since 2000 and along the way have been able to meet some farm owners offering reduced pricing to our clients. Most of our hunting camps are about a 2-3.5 hour’s drive from the Johannesburg Airport, while our Karoo hunting camp is about 2.5 hours from Bloemfontein. This will allow hunters to be able to fly directly into South Africa from the US and be transported to their accommodation on the same day.

How are we able to offer such reduced pricing you may ask? Hunting rights have been negotiated on land held by local farmers. These farmers primarily host local hunters but we have asked them to open up their farms to international clients. These farmers look at the opportunity to have hunters as incremental income. Accommodation is provided on each farm. While not 5 star, the lodging is comfortable, clean and safe. Meals will be cooked for you by our hired PH’s and there will be no shortage of caloric intake.

This opportunity to hunt in Africa is not offered by many other suppliers. For those of you who are members in a local deer hunting camp, you will have an idea of what this experience might resemble (with a few more cuts of game meat to eat).

Hunting: There are primarily two forms of hunting taking place – walking and stalking or shooting from a blind or cover.

Getting There: Most of the hunters fly direct to Johannesburg from either Atlanta, Washington DC or New York. Flights can also be routed through Europe.

Climate: The hunting season runs from May-August with the primary months being June, July and August. Weather can bring overnight lows of freezing, but benefit to hunting in southern Africa occurs during the daylight hours when there is copious sunshine and moderate temperatures often reaching the mid 60’s.

Meals: Your meals will be prepared by the local PH. You can count on there being plenty of wild game to eat. Afrikaners are heavy on the protein so you will not go hungry. You will be served a light breakfast, brunch and dinner. The dinners will most likely involve grilling out, referred to as a “braai” in South Africa. You will be able to visit the local liquor store to pick up any alcohol of your choice. The stores will stock most everything you might want.
