Fly to Upington airport where we will be waiting on your arrival and transport you to our lodge for the next two nights on a beautiful 50,000 acre game farm in typical Kalahari desert and host to some of Africa’s classic game birds, Namaqua and Burchells Sandgrouse. (1.5 hr drive)
We will have lunch at the lodge and settle in, depending on time of arrival
There will be an afternoon game drive on the beautiful property where rhino, buffalo, sable, roan and game typical to the Kalahari Desert exists. –OR-
Do a late evening very challenging Burchells Sandgrouse shoot (Bag limit is 2 birds per gun and they only fly for a maximum of 20min at sunset)
Dinner will be served from 7:00 – 7:30 PM
DAY 2
SANDGROUSE / GEESE / PIGEONS
Breakfast at 8:00 AM
Depart lodge 9:30 AM for morning Namaqua Sandgrouse shoot. Bag limit is 10 birds per gun and normally last till 11:30 AM
Return to lodge and have lunch at 1:30 PM
Leave lodge at 2:30 PM for pigeon and geese shoot (45min drive)
Pigeon and mainly Egyptian geese will be shot out of blinds and over decoys in agriculture fields. Pigeons will be flying till late afternoon when geese start arriving. Shoot will last till dark. NO limit on pigeons and 10 geese per gun
Dinner will be served at the Lodge at 7:30 PM
DAY 3
TRAVEL / ROCK PIGEONS
Depart from Northern Cape Lodge at 6:00 AM and drive 2 hours to where we will have breakfast at the town of Kimberley (Biggest man made hole in the world) then take on the next 2.5 hour drive to Bloemfontein
Arrive 11:30 AM at Bloemfontein for a Rock Pigeon shoot. Shoot should last until about 4:00 PM. No bag limit.
After the shoot we will drive (30 min) to our lodge and settle in
Dinner will be served at 7:00 PM
DAY 4
ROCK PIGEONS
4:30 AM wakeup call
Meet 5:00 AM for coffee, tea, cereal and rusks
5:30 AM Depart for pigeon fields
Flights normally are between 6:00 – 9:00 AM and 12:00 to 4:00 PM. No bag limit
Lunch will be served in the field between shoots
After shoot we will drive (30min) to our lodge and settle in
Dinner will be served at 7:00 PM
DAY 5
TRAVEL / PIGEONS /DUCK
4:30 AM Wakeup call
Meet 5:00 AM for coffee tea, cereal and rusks
Pack Bags, 5:30 AM Depart for pigeon fields
Shoot 6:00 – 9:00 AM
Drive 2.5 hours to town of Paul Roux
Book into lodge and have lunch
Depart lodge 2:30 PM for afternoon duck shoot. Hunting will be done of blinds over decoys at ponds for Yellow billed duck, White face whistling duck, Red billed teal, Egyptian geese and the occasional Spurwing goose
Bag limit 10 waterfowl per gun per day
Return to Lodge, dinner will be served at 7:30 PM
DAY 6
GUINEA FOWL / FRANCOLIN / QUAIL
Breakfast at 8:00 AM
Depart for guinea fowl shoot at 9:00 AM. Swanson’s spur fowl, Orange River francolin and common quail will also presents itself during the days shoot
Guinea fowl shoot will mainly consists of driven (10+ beaters) and walk up
Bag limit 10 per gun
Lunch will be served in the field
Shoot till just before dark and return to lodge
Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM
DAY 7
GUINEA FOWL / FRANCOLIN /DUCKS
Breakfast at 8:00 AM
Depart for guinea fowl shoot at 9:00 AM. Swanson’s spur fowl, Orange River francolin and common quail will also presents itself during the days shoot
