Most American outdoorsmen believe that hunting in Africa is reserved for the wealthy. While we offer an opportunity for the high end hunter to visit Africa, our goal has also been to provide the large number of middle class Americans with a lesser priced option to enjoy what the continent has to offer.
South Africa offers a unique experience in Africa – a first world standard of living on a continent filled with third world countries. Why is this distinction important when wanting to hunt plains game in Africa? Reduction in costs in some places.
We’ve been hunting in South Africa since 2000 and along the way have been able to meet some farm owners offering reduced pricing to our clients. Most of our hunting camps are about a 2-3.5 hour’s drive from the Johannesburg Airport, while our Karoo hunting camp is about 2.5 hours from Bloemfontein. This will allow hunters to be able to fly directly into South Africa from the US and be transported to their accommodation on the same day.
How are we able to offer such reduced pricing you may ask? Hunting rights have been negotiated on land held by local farmers. These farmers primarily host local hunters but we have asked them to open up their farms to international clients. These farmers look at the opportunity to have hunters as incremental income. Accommodation is provided on each farm. While not 5 star, the lodging is comfortable, clean and safe. Meals will be cooked for you by our hired PH’s and there will be no shortage of caloric intake.
This opportunity to hunt in Africa is not offered by many other suppliers. For those of you who are members in a local deer hunting camp, you will have an idea of what this experience might resemble (with a few more cuts of game meat to eat).
